Pair of Intricate Metamorphic "Bull and Bear" Cast Bronze Sculptures, by acclaimed American sculptor Theodore "Ted" Gall (b. 1941). This symbolically paired set represents the classic dualities of the financial markets, executed in Gall's signature surrealist, multi-layered style.
The Bull: Realistically modeled with long sweeping horns and textured details. The head is hinged at the back and swings upward to reveal a highly detailed interior chamber containing miniature figures, ladders, a unicycle wheel, and mechanical symbols.
The Bear: Realistically sculpted with a highly textured coat and open mouth. The head opens on a rear hinge to reveal a detailed interior diorama featuring a climbing bear clinging to a central column and globe, flanked by smaller abstract elements.
Both sculptures feature a rich, multi-toned brown and golden-bronze patina. Each sits on an integrated square bronze base, mounted atop a black marble slab and supported by a heavy, square cream-colored travertine stone pedestal. Each piece is signed by the artist, "T. Gall." Theodore "Ted" Gall (American, b. 1941)  The Bull is 11.5" x 7" x 7". The bear is 11.5 x 4.5" x 6".
Condition: Very good contemporary condition. The bronze patinas remain deep and lustrous. The mechanical hinges function smoothly and hold their positions when opened. The micro-sculpted interior figures, wires, and attachments are stable and entirely intact. The travertine stone bases show natural variations, pits, and textures inherent to the stone, with no non-structural damage or notable chips.

Condition

Condition Guide: We list damage, repairs, and wear that we are aware of in each listing. No mention of condition does not necessarily mean the Lot is free of issues. Please view the images as part of the description and if necessary, request a condition report. Below is a general definition of how we rate items.
Excellent: Condition is well above what would be expected for a previously owned item. Never worn, or new with tags, No apparent manufacturing flaws. etc.
Very good condition: Well kept, respectfully handled with minimal wear and tear. May have a minor flaw for example a tiny glaze pop, or a few surface scuffs to the underside of a base.
Good condition: No major issues. Expected normal minor wear for age and use.
Generally good condition: One or more items in a group lot or set may have described and/or photographed issue/s. For example: chip in dinnerware, missing rhinestone/s in costume jewelry group lot.
Fair Condition: Multiple issues but in our opinion, worth salvaging. Repairs or major issues will be detailed in the text and the worst shown in images.
Poor Condition: The lot shouldn't be there. Please notify us.
