Monumental Vintage Hopi Shalako Mana (Shalako Maiden) Katsina. Standing at a magnificent, exhibition-scale 28.5 inches for the wood sculpture alone, and a monumental 35.5 inches to the top of the feathers, this vintage Hopi Shalako Mana (Shalako Maiden) Katsina is a museum-quality piece. Hand-carved from solid cottonwood root, it features the iconic, highly detailed multi-tiered stepped tablita headdress representing sacred rain clouds. Measures (with feathers) 35.5"H x 11"W x 7"D. Unsigned. 

Condition: This carving is in good stable vintage condition with honest signs of age.
Surface & Structure: The main body log, base, arms, and facial structure are intact. There appears to be a missing element from the right hand as there is a metal spire above the ball. Small chip on the edge of outer edge of right foot, and separations to the mid-point of each arm where they were attached. 
Tablita Condition: Features a clean, natural vertical seasoning check running down the center of the front-facing orange panel on the headdress. The back of the tablita features its traditional hand-carved wooden support spine, ensuring the entire upper panel remains structurally secure and completely stable.
Paint & Surface Wear: Features its original flat, traditional water-based pigments showing beautiful, authentic age wear, handling rubs, and paint loss primarily around the lower kilt, sash, and moccasins, giving it an exceptional historic patina.
Summary: A completely stable, large-scale example with no modern repairs, no glue, and no stabilization.
